The rating process sets out the basis on which SM BEE RATING AGENCY provides the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment rating scorecard report and certificate to the entity based on the dtic’s B-BBEE Codes of Good Practice.
Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) rating caters for all sizes of businesses and industries (Sectors). The BEE rating is an in-depth verification process that requires confirmation of specific elements as required by the scorecard that will apply to your company.
The B-BBEE Verification is an interactive process that calls for client preparation before the ‘BEE audit’. The verification process includes on-site visits, during which documentation will be checked. Verification is done in line with the dtic’s B-BBEE Verification Methodology as Gazetted on 18 July 2008. This assessment will provide you with an unbiased rating of the overall B-BBEE status of your entity.
The following relevant scorecard elements will be verified against the documents and information you provide to SM BEE RATING AGENCY:
Total B-BBEE verification process is within 2 Weeks to 12 Weeks.
On receipt of an application for the B-BBEE verification, SMBEE will forward the following documents to the verification manager.
The verification manager will contact the measured entity, review the application form for completeness, analyse the relationship that may exist between SM BEE, its employees or subcontractors and the measured entity, confirm the different locations where the measured entity’s activities are carried out, the measured entity’s total annual turnover, number of employees and complexity of structure.
All applications are reviewed for acceptance and if not accepted, the applicant will be notified of nonacceptance with reasons in writing.
